- Pleased to meet you, Randy. I'm looking forward to the interview!

Hey, Randy da Silva Luz here! Pleased to meet you, too! Umm, I'm not really used to interviews, so sorry if I ask or say anything weird.

- Same here; I'm sorry if I ask anything weird myself! How should I address you, Randy?

"Randy"'s OK, of course!

- Thank you! You seem pretty easygoing!

Ha ha; I hear that a lot. I'm not really trying to be, though! I'm just able to hit it off with people really well. I like meeting new people! I'm so glad I've had the opportunity to get to know people from all over the world. I wanna get to know them better. I wanna get to know you better, too!

- Of course! .....*Well!* U, um, please tell us about the country in which you currently live.

Brazil - in São Paulo! It's a nice place, so you should go there and have some fun. I'll show you around anytime!

- I hear you like free climbing.

I do! I really enjoy the climbing part, of course - testing your own strength, focusing just on going higher. And the sense of accomplishment you get after you reach the top can't be beat! There're times when the view from the top can make you giddy, too.

- What mountains have you climbed so far?

Mt. McKinley in North America; Aconcagua in South America; Kilimanjaro in Africa; Mont Blanc in Europe. For those that're over 8,000 m, there's Kanchenjunga (India/Nepal) and Lhotse (China/Nepal). There're others; do you wanna hear 'em? There're a lot of mountains I wanna climb but haven't yet, too. Of course, those over 8,000 m have a certain charm for me!

- Whoa. That's so high I can't imagine... What appeals to you about mountains?

Well... How do I put it... Well, on the border of Venezuela, Guyana, and Brazil, there's this mountain called "Monte Roraima" - it's a synonym for "great," and they say it has the oldest bedrock in the world. There's a "Valle de los Cristales" made of crystals that've fallen on the ground, and holes in the rock called "ventanas." And when the damp sea air from the Caribbean comes in, the temperatures get warmer, and the climate at the top of the mountain completely changes! I'll never forget the very first time I climbed it by myself. Everything I saw was like a completely different world, and yet I still felt a connection to it...and I thought then and there that I wanted to see so much that I hadn't seen yet, and go so many places I hadn't yet gone. That's the beauty of mountains, isn't it?

- I wanna climb one too now! Next, I'd like to ask about your family. I hear your father's an industrialist...

Yeah, he is. He works at a steel-manufacturing company. He seems to have a lot more on his plate, but I don't really understand it all. In the past, he wasn't home much. But he's a good dad who loves his family! And I respect my father. My mother's cooking is really good! So much so that when I was a kid, I wanted to get home as fast as I could to have my meal. I also have four younger sisters. Since I've been off on adventures half the year for several years, every time I see them, I honestly think, "Wow, you girls have really changed!". I also have a golden retriever! He's really smart! I'm always walking him when I'm at home.

- You're really busy! What's your daily schedule like, Randy?

Is a normal day OK? Well, in the morning, I get up kinda early, and go for a run while I take my dog for a walk. I eat a big breakfast and go to class! I'm off from school a lot, so it's tough to keep up! I'm always borrowing notes and having one-on-ones with my teachers (laughs). After that, I guess I have training. I have a gym that supports me, so I make good use of their training menu. My body's my way of life, so if I don't keep myself in shape, I'm out of luck.

- Is there any one thing on which you just won't compromise?

............

- (He's really thinking about it! ...Was that question too hard?)

......I can't stand sitting down, I guess?

- Sitting down?

Ah, well, you know; I like moving my body around, and sitting around all day at a job or studying just isn't my thing. So if there's one thing on which I just won't compromise, I guess I'd say "moving my body." Yeah.

- I see! That's just like you, Randy. Tell us about your fashion hang-ups.

Naturally, being able to move around is my number-one priority when it comes to clothes! I don't do well with stiff, formal clothing. I avoid suits if I can help it. I like jeans better!

- If you had a date with a lady, where would you take her?

I'd like to take her to see some beautiful sight. The Valle de los Cristales; the sunrise from Mont Blanc...hmmm. It'd be pretty tough to take her to see those, though. But I'd like to take her to see some sight that's pretty and rare.

- If you had to give a present to a lady, what kind of thing would you give?

I really don't have a clue when it comes to presents. It's tough for me to tell what girls like. Ah! But if I'm with a girl, she's probably cute, so I'd probably look for an accessory or something. I mean, I'd be happy if she wore it for me.

- Who's your ideal woman, Randy?

My ideal woman!?! Man, you don't stop with the tough questions, do you!? But, OK, I feel like I'd go for a girl who's fun to be with. Because that's what happiness is, you know?

- We've finally come to our last question! Do you have a message for the ladies?

I wanna meet you real soon! I really feel that way! Because, whenever I meet someone new, it makes me really, really happy! But it's not just that...I've just got a feeling. You might call it my adventurer's sixth sense...and my sixth sense is pretty on the nose. Over and over, whenever I trust that instinct, things go well for me. And I'm gonna trust that feeling now! Meeting you is like my destiny!

- That was great!

...I get kinda nervous, saying those things. You want me to do it over?

- No; you got it just right! Thank you!

First: A good portion of Randy's speech about Mt. Roraima is literally copypasted from the Japanese Wikipedia page on the mountain. Way to go, writer.

Also, though I use "he," we do not know the gender of Randy's dog. Forgive my ignorance of this pressing issue.

After that: Yeah, I know everyone's sick of my excuses for being late, but I had car issues last Friday that threw everything off-kilter. I was intending to post two interviews today to make up for it, but the next one is Luva, and you can imagine how he prattles on. So I translated a bunch of brief "waiting for you" letters from the previous interviewees included with the Luva interview. Apparently, these were in the actual game.

Oscar
I've been waiting for you, young lady. You might not expect this from me, but I am quite the romantic. And I've always been searching for that fateful woman, that one lady just for me. And if you become my paramour, oneechan...well, we're getting ahead of ourelves, aren't we. We haven't even met now; let's take our time getting to know each other...hm? I'll be waiting for the day we meet, my little lady.

("Young lady" is "oneechan," of course. Any thoughts on how to translate "oneechan"? Can't leave it as is with an American Oscar. I'd opt for "little lady," but that makes him sound like John Wayne.)

Marcel
Pleased to meet you! I'm really looking forward to meeting you! I think it'll be great to be able to spend time with the Angel of Hope! I wonder what kind of person you are? ...My heart pounds and I get goosebumps just thinking about it! But I know this: your smile must be as pretty and sweet as a flower, and I know I'll just love you!

Francis
Ahhh, my lady... Please find it in your heart to forgive me for pining away for you, to me as yet unseen... Just thinking about what sort of fate you will be kind enough to grant me with you...cannot help but to stir my heart... I await the day that I will finally be greeted with your smile. Mine and mine alone...my lady.

Heuye
Thinking about when I'll meet you has me all excited for some reason! It's the first time I've felt like this about anyone! Why's my heart pounding like this; why do I feel like this? I wanna hurry up and meet you and know what I'm all excited about. Maybe the more I see you, the more I'll want us to be together!

Ernst
Welcome to the Neoromance Society. As a fellow member, I offer my greetings. I'll be looking forward to working with you. ......What else should I say...... Forgive me; I am rather maladroit with matters outside the workplace. I'd be happy if you accepted my apologies for my rudeness.

Mel
Last night, I looked up at the stars, and the stars looked different! There was this one star that was really big and shone so beautifully! It was just like it was whispering to me. "The stars whisper to us our fate" - so says a legend handed down in my homeland. And that star is the sparkling of your eyes! ...I believe - that meeting you is my destiny.

Arios
The "Angel of Hope," hmmm... I know nothing of angels or hope. But there must be a reason - some reason - why you're called that...I suppose. It's got nothing to do with me...supposedly, but then why is it, I wonder, that you won't leave the edges of my heart. I guess there's no choice; you and I have to meet somewhere. And if I steal a kiss from you then?... Heh, just joking.

Oh, Randy... You big weiner. Hahaha. I wouldn't be surprised if he's kind of... dumb, academically speaking. He'd be like the cute jock who'd rather be outside playing soccer than studying for his math exam.
