Maren Update

It seems like the Maren no Rokukishi site has been updated. There's two new videos that start out the same, but show different stills and have voice samples. There are some stills that the site doesn't even have up yet in them. They also tell the starting and ending songs for the game. Not much, but it's something. And since my hyperlink is deciding it's taking a day off, I'll just post the link.

Ah, I was glad to hear voice samples for everyone. I have to admit, the only one that doesn't seem to fit with me is Gerhard... it sounded way too young to me. But Eugene and Giovanni sound perfect! I was all impressed.

Also, it's so weird to hear them sweet talking. Part of me keeps going, "They're still villains, this can't possibly end well..."

*Regardless, still has fingers crossed for a Leviath Route*

I cannot for the life of me tell you what they say, but just listening to their tones of voice gives the general gist of what they mean. In other words, Eugene sounds like he's gonna jump you, Giovanni like he's mocking you, and Gerhard like a teenage boy with his first crush. Is it just me or does Giovanni sound remarkably like Randy? Do they have the same voice actor, because it sounds like it.

Based on the pictures, I'm not too sure you have the option of running off with Leviath, but I do think he's more a big-brother figure to you. A shame, but sacrifices must be made I suppose.

And who says evil people can't fall in love? Just look at Leviath - ignoring the sociopathic attempts to revive his dead girlfriend, he truly loved her...

Oh, I know enough Japanese to know what's going on. It's mostly desires for Teresa to stay by their side and promises of protection. And Giovanni is played Shotaro Morikubo. (He's one of the reasons I got excited over this.)

Eh, I'm not gonna call anything this early on. Sometimes dating sims have unexpected routes to be found.

Oh, I didn't say they couldn't fall in love. (I actually like a lot of villain pairings in other series.) I just said that it wouldn't end well. That's just canon - they're all supposed to die during this coup so any good ending will be bitter sweet at best.

It's a bad day to have one's laptop sound still out of order.

I am hoping, however, for an AU timeline with the Cain route where you help him overthrow Leviath and rule the universe together. (That said, I will repeat my call for lots of BAD ENDs to stay true to the subject matter, and I don't mean all just "they fell in love but coup failed, everyone died".)

OK, after a brief moment of my computer's sound working properly: I dunno, man; I think they're playing it too straight, with the dashing music and the conventional promises of love, etc. Of course, they can't go all dark in the commercials, trying to sell this conventionally, but my hopes are fading that they understand that these guys are significantly screwed up.

Don't have any original thoughts on the actors - Gerhard is completely miscast due to age. I thought Sionna's voice was good, oddly. And Eugene's, but that's not odd. Cain seems almost too plain, though it's tough to tell from a couple lines. I wish Giovanni had a bit more of the languid, self-indulgent narcissist to him, but c'est la vie.

First about the theme songs...OMG!!! GRANDRODEO AND 2HEARTS!!! YES!!!

Now about the voices...
Morikawa as Cain: Oh yes, definitely!
Hirata as Kiefar: I never thought I'd hear such a tone as I had in the second video coming from him...I love it!
Morikubo as Giovanni: I think I prefer him more than Yuuki Hiro...
OnoD as Eugene: That tone...gods, I can't decide who I like more now! Tobita or OnoD!!
Kaji as Sionna: I never heard a tone like that from a character he's voiced before, I've only experienced his more genki characters (Shiodome in Miracle Train, Finnian in Kuroshitsuji)...but I don't hate it.
Don't like Gerhard's voice though, guess I'm used to hearing an older voice from him thanks to Horiuchi Kenyuu...
Narita as Leviath: Thank goodness he's keeping that role!

Can't wait until we get to hear the others, I wanna hear Kugimiya Rie as Renaud!!
