Somewhere along the way, a 'character list' or 'filter' was added to the Angelique category of FF net :
http://www.fanfiction.net/game/Angelique/
Oh friends, even Ervin is up there while Julious, Clavis et al never even makes it into the list. Quite an outrage, IF the irony wasn't so deliciously hilarious *rofl*,
Note: This post is NOT a rant, it's only highlighting something my semi-twisted humor found amusing. XD Most likely the list was submitted by a very dedicated Neo Ange fangirl who hasn't been exposed to the 'original' Angelique. So no worries~ though someone does need to get the original Angelique list to FF, post-haste.

Something this NeoAnge fan noticed

Date: 2009-08-03 04:17 pm (UTC)And I gave up the idea of spell-checking once I encountered the double 'u' in Hyuga.
Someone pray enlighten me whether there's any justification in that from a language perspective *hint*Re: Something this NeoAnge fan noticed
Date: 2009-08-04 03:08 am (UTC)(The creators may just not understand or care about depicting the double vowel in Roman letters, a not-unheard-of occurrence. The double vowel is usually indicated with a macron (bar) over a single vowel - "Hyƫga" - but, often, people don't know what the funny marks on the letters mean and consequently just omit them. That may be what's happening here, or, again, they may just not care.)
Heck, *I* gave up on spellchecking when they named him "Leviath", then gave him a big gold "R" dangling from his chest in the "Stay" music video.
Re: Something this NeoAnge fan noticed
Date: 2009-08-04 07:22 pm (UTC)Lol. 'Leviath', well... I imagine that R is either a huge graphical typo on part of the animators ("Whoops, but, hey the fans won't notice this..") or someone just wants to mess with our heads XD
If it was the former, they certainly reckoned wrong :Pno subject
Date: 2009-08-02 11:32 pm (UTC)*sees the filter* ? Oh, finally... *checks filter* Eh? What the...? *shakes head in amusement* Geez...
It is amusing yet frustrating at the same time...

Date: 2009-08-03 10:53 am (UTC)@indigozeal; Apparently so, since wikipedia someone's spelt it as such. I didn't really notice it though, I guess my mind auto spellchecked it. :S

Also, a word on its anime series - Koisuru Tenshi Angelique. I suggest watching the OVAs first (starting with OVA 4) and the anime LAST for... erm... some reasons. One, it focuses on Angelique the Etoile, the 'newest' Angelique heroine in the original Ange timeline.
Two, having fed on NeoAnge Abyss eyecandy you will weep at the art (in a bad way ^^;) and probably be tempted beyond endurance to give up on original Ange IF you haven't been exposed to OVA/game art and characterization by that time....no subject
Date: 2009-08-03 08:45 pm (UTC)I've heard terrible things about Koisuru Tenshi (especially in regards to animation), so I think I've been scared off. I'll definitely try for the OVAs first then.
Oh snap, perhaps I should find some really badly animated anime episodes to mentally preapre myself? *g*no subject

Date: 2009-08-04 04:01 pm (UTC)2) The OVAs are the easiest way to experience Ange, but they might come off as a tad odd to someone who isn't already a fan; save for OVA4, they don't have much of a plot and serve more as a delivery system of glamour shots for the characters. This is a somewhat a hold-over from Ange's origins as a game in the Super Famicom/early Playstation days, when CD technology was early, anime cutscenes were sparse and a bit rough (if included at all), and most of what fans saw of the characters was through sprites; everyone was just happy to see their favorite guys in full motion, speaking and walking around and looking pretty.
Part of it, though, is that original Angelique, especially when compared to the Neo Ange anime, usually doesn't have much of character development or plot beyond "someone named Angelique is trying to cultivate a continent and/or become a Queen". It's also a lot more pink and fluffy. I'm certainly not trying to scare you off, being an Ange fan myself; it's just a markedly different franchise and calls for a bit of revision in one's expectations at times. Its big drawing point is the male characters, who are very lovable and charming.
3) Sableblanc has done the public service announcement, but just to underline for anyone else reading who's interested in introducing themselves to the original Angelique: stay away from the Koi Suru Tenshi series. Everyone notices the poor animation quality (which really does get worse and worse upon close inspection), but what turned me off definitively was how just utterly hateful many of the Angelique characters come off. The writers, apparently under the influence of narcotics, turned nearly everyone into a spiteful thug, an elitist snob, or an ineffectual wimp, and they're not that way at all anywhere else.
(Also, in adapting the last story in a long-running franchise, it has to stop a lot to fill in the viewers on what happened in whatever previous game/video/book via flashbacks or exposition dumps or whatnot. A newcomer is just going to get confused.)
4) Did you get my message a long while back regarding that NeoAnge epilogue manga? (Geez, I don't want to be one of those people: "Didja get my message? Didja didja didja, huh?")

Date: 2009-08-04 07:28 pm (UTC)At the rate we're going, we might have enough to pen a crash course for NeoAngelique-rs in a bit~ ^_-no subject
Date: 2009-08-07 11:14 am (UTC)2) Yeah, from what little I know it's kinda hard to wrap my head around so many characters at once. I'm glad that the OVAs focus on two characters at a time. I guess I should research on Marfisa's site then...
3) Well, damn. I guess I'd need popcorn.gif and a huge dose of tolerance to live through it once I get up to it. XD There definiely should be a public post/wiki for NeoRomance fans on what they should start on and what order.
4) I found it, after combing through my message inbox and cleaning up a bunch of messages I don't need. Thanks very much! :D

Date: 2009-08-04 07:08 pm (UTC)*laughing* You really want a preview of Koisuru as 'preparation' ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMfKYlHBs_c
Now if after watching *that* you feel like jumping ship, quickly watch the OVA 4 OP below (tho' you might want to ignore the title, IIRC 'Memoir of White Wing' isn't the title of OVA 4) XD

The girls are actually not that bad at certain points, but the guys... Is it any wonder the fans are up in arms about it ?
What indigozeal and maverynthia observed is essentially correct.
There is a certain innocence about the original Angelique simply because the original premise was a dating sim with cultivation elements, as opposed to the action-orientated, edgy Neo Angelique that was a dating sim/RPG.
The upside of this is that you'll be spared heartache in terms of character tragedyI'm not saying that Angelique doesn't have an 'edge'. There should be plenty of darkness & angst if you know where to look for it, like in the drama CDs...
(What happened to Nyx isn't exactly new. Julious suffered a similar episode when as a child he made a deal with an evil being to save Clavis from... what?... drowning. Of course, Julious isn't a purifier, only the Guardian of Light and de facto leader of the Queen's guardians, which makes getting possessed so much more worse in my opinion)no subject
Date: 2009-08-07 11:38 am (UTC)I am finding the Angelique here's voice somewhat annoying, but that's because of my obvious bias for Endou Aya. The excerpt itself isn't that bad (yet) though. ^ ^;
Daaamn, that OP is pretty. I'll def be watching that now, thanks! (I also am a fan of older series, having grown up with Sailor Moon and DBZ :D)
Yeah, sacrilege of the male character is just asking for it.
No worries there, I'm open to nearly all genres when it comes to anime-romance. Also, I am a sap for fluff so...
I did not know about this recycling of plots. *sigh* Koei.no subject

It's quite difficult to forget the Outer Senshi / [insert favorite chara here] ^^ (I'm less kind to DB, it's pretty questionable if I even remember much of it XD)
Yet, Koei is *good* at what they do... They've managed it in such a way that it doesn't make me (and I suspect others) any less sympathetic towards Nyx's condition in spite of anything~ ^^;no subject

Date: 2009-08-03 05:07 pm (UTC)If you really, really delve into this.... yes, the underlying reason is because Koisuru Tenshi was not as successful as Abyss.
I wished that it had half the opportunities Abyss had in terms of execution -_- Then people would probably know something about it.
