This is a bit random but...with the various NeoAnge CDs I have, I've got little picture cards for Jet, Mathias and Roche done by Kairi Yura, who illustrated (exceptionally well) a lot of old Ange stuff too. On the front is their picture with their names in English and on the back a stat thingy with their age, etc on.

My Mathias avatar comes from one of them - they're not very big cards, about trading card size perhaps?

I'm assuming that there must be an Erenfried one out there somewhere. My question is, does anyone have it and do people know if cards come with specific CD first presses or is it random?

If memory serves *dredges memory* I had Mathias with Silver Tone, Jet with Gold Note and Roche with Sincerely. The only other NeoAnge CD I have is My First Lady...which is pre-all of these characters anyhow.

If anyone has one for Erenfried, would they mind scanning him for me? I don't mind scanning mine if anyone wants me to, either...I just thought I'd ask.

Of course it's possible that Erenfried will match to the character song collection CD thats coming out in march and therefore hasn't appeared yet. But does anyone more NeoAnge knowledgeable know for sure...??

Eren is in Akatsuki no Tenshi (http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w34283205), apparently.

(By the way, how is Silver Tone?)

Oh, also -

Both the above auction and the CDJapan listing for Silver Tone claim that the trading cards are indeed first-pressing bonuses for their respective CDs.

Heh, there's an Amazon.jp review that also singles out Mathias's solo as the highlight. I like the character and am impressed by his seiyuu's strong singing voice, though I'm significantly more sympathetic to his predicament than the show turned out to be and am consequently wary of the dramas etc. produced post-Second Age. (As a whole, though, I prefer the storylines of the characters in Silver Note over the Artefact drama, with the exception of Roche, who inspires little in me but the desire to punch him in the throat.)

Stray thought: it'd be nice if we had a review site for the NeoRoma CDs, for the few of us who're still laying money on the line instead of downloading everything.

Yep, four days late.

And with such an insubstantive reply, too. (**SPOILERS** for Second Age, I suppose, for those wandering in here.)

Oh, it was clear from the moment Mathias plunged that dagger in that he was toast. I myself was disappointed that the show veered away from a truly sad and relatively complex storyline centered on a character capable of some canny planning and impressive, satisfying bastardry and instead, from Second Age ep. 6 on, defaulted to a simplistic conflict that recast him as someone who was just wholly dumb/wrong/evil right up till his death. (I mean, they had him foiled by the comic relief, for pity's sake.)

That was ultimately my problem with the show - it pushed the envelope for the franchise (a pretty narrow envelope, but still) and set up some intriguing character conflicts and ideas but, for the most part, chickened out on going completely through with them. Perhaps it was stupid of me ever to conceive that an Angelique work would end with the lead not becoming a queen, but perhaps, then, the show shouldn't have included that memorable scene of Bernard on the rooftop saying that he believed ordinary people could save the world. The show was strong enough that I believe it could have carried off some of its intriguing ideas, but it just chose, in the clutch, to retreat to the Angelique comfort zone. (Despite my complaining in this post, I do like the show and of it could sing many praises, but ending well, it seems, is crucial to being remembered well.)

(Likewise, I haven't played any of the Neo Ange games. I do have to wonder how they handle Mathias in the PSP game, given that Rene's already head of the Order there, though I don't have $225+ floating around right now to find out.)

Whoops -

Insubstantial post, not insubstantive. I hope never to be the latter.

Insubstantive is often used by philosophers and in academic circles.
